IS THERE A VISUALIZER FOR SPOTIFY YET HOW TO

Now that I know how to connect to Spotify’s API, in future projects I want to check out the musical qualities of the songs/artists I listen to (beyond just genre). How can this be How can it be that Spotify knows what songs are pop and what songs are indie Spotify and Apple Music don’t hire millions of people whose sole purpose is. Spotify and Apple Music seem to know you better than you know yourself. I listened to way too much of Adrianne Lenker’s ‘ Gone ’ in August (#sadgirlvibes) but in December my top song was of course Mariah Carey’s ‘ All I Want For Christmas Is You’. There are over 30 million songs on Spotify and yet often Spotify can recommend the near-perfect song. I learned that I REALLY liked Julien Baker this year and my love for Lorde knows no time limit. There are a ton of interesting insights you can glean from analyzing your Spotify streaming and library data - especially when combined with additional data fields obtained via the Spotify API (i.e.

  • Listenership by Month: self-explanatory (edit 9/29: I converted the field “In Library” to a dimension from a measure, so that I could include it in a stacked bar chart to see how many total minutes I listened to each month, and of that how many were in my library).
  • Genres: all genres I’ve listened to, with size and color indicating count of streams.
  • Top Songs: most popular songs by minutes listened.
  • Artist Breadth: number of songs by each artist I’ve listened to for >1 minute and >1 stream.
  • Top Artists: most popular artists by minutes listened, with individual songs making up colorful segments.
  • Updated Google Play Music Desktop Player Plugin to 1.4.Dashboard filtered for just songs/artists with the genre ‘alt z’ - am I a cool Gen Z kid yet?.

You click Top Tracks or Top Artists and you receive a list of your most played songs or artists from most to least, and your recently played. It will fetch the song you're playing from your webbrowser through an extension (Chrome and Firefox) and it will display the song information in the skin.
